this is a tough one as there's right on both sides - though i don't see why she has to be so rude and nasty about it, she has no right to be so cruel and judgmental - people are entitled to be any weight they choose.
No-one deserves to be abused for it!
that said, she is right about not teaching kids that its good to be obese - it isn't.
although being fat is acceptable, common and attractive for lots of people - its not ideal or the healthiest way - our bodies do not like to be fat.
its not how our bodies are designed to be - saying its all fine and actually desirable, just to save someones feelings could send the wrong message.
just because some people find something attractive does not make it good, or ok - especially if it is generally pretty unhealthy or even dangerous.
i accept that many people fancy overweight people, but then some people fancy the anorexic look too... and thats not ok either.
but then that brings up the other extreme of this body image isue - the unreasonable and unrealistic image of women, thats really far too thin and also sends a negative message to kids.
People fancy lots of things that most would consider odd - Some particularly fancy amputees and actively seek them out, and others deliberately remove limbs to become one! - does that make it good because some find it desirable?
you could take that further and say some naturally fancy children and animals etc, they can't help it ...doesnt make it ok... though thats going off point.
as with most things, somewhere in the middle is the best.
i think its great to be curvy, but there's a line where curvy is quite simply obese and the person is fooling themselves.
I once heard a girl - who was very obese, but very short - describe herself as 'petite' ... !
its an interesting debate because I agree with both sides really...
(probably because i am one of the unlucky people who is slightly overweight due to a medical condition)
