DT, a very distinct difference can be drawn between the two ‘tragedies’. One brutally inflicted by the overwhelming and unassailable power of nature – the other inflicted by the brutal and deliberately chosen actions of madmen. No comparison.

Do you accept what happened in Arizona is a tragedy?
DT, Yes, there are other tragedies – but those created by nature cannot be compared to those created deliberately by man. Arizona is a tragedy, certainly, but the victims were not purposefully murdered at the will of another human being. You can surely see the difference?
And it's the reason the were purposely murdered. For dancing!!!
I haven't said that I don't see a difference, just that there was another (significant) tragedy involving the death of a lot more people, who were in a situation looking to save many other - I was just registering that fact, nothing more, nothing less.
others.....oops.
Then maybe you should have started your own thread about it!
It's just a silly comparison to throw in randomly DT. This thread's about the murdered girls, so why start talking about firefighters? There's a different thread for that.
Well an excellent hatchet job. I am reminded of Alfred North Whitehead,

“I have suffered a great deal from writers who have quoted this or that sentence of mine either out of its context or in juxtaposition to some incongruous matter which quite distorted my meaning , or destroyed it altogether”

Night all.
DT, No one has quoted you out of context. The comparison you made was simply not appropriate to this thread. No reason to get your knickers in a knot over it.
I agree with Naomi and Ummm on this issue.
This is not a tragedy, it is a conspiracy at best and an assassination at worst.
This was engineered, it did not just befall the victim as a tragedy would have done and I believe that anyone who thinks otherwise is just playing devil's advocate

Gromit, since when do you tell people what they can and cannot post, do you mind not doing that again. And i had posted about the Arizona fire, if some noticed.
Question Author
i am aware of what my last message says, but i really find some people who make an issue because the item has already been mentioned irritating.
some people post about the weather, i have, others do, so why should this be different. Gosh if only we were all the same, wouldn't that be good.
Is this 'have a pop a Gromit' week?

He hasn't told you where you can post, he asked why you posted the same article as AOG as you were involved in the thread that had already been posted.
Question Author
no it's not, however his rather rude comments just got my goat, and you were right, i hadn't opened the other AOG link, that was about how many girls, women killed in Pakistan, these two stood out for the nature of the reason for their deaths, it wasn't just the girls either, the mother i believe died as well. as to DT comments, he obviously didn't see that i had posted earlier about the Arizona tragedy. one was caused by man, the other a natural disaster, both tragedies in my eyes.
ummmm

/// Gromit, maybe Em didn't open the link. I didn't when I read the thread. ///

In fact Em contributed to my thread on this subject 7 times which also included a youtube link.

I presume you opened Em's link, since it was an Independent link but failed to open mine simply because it was a Daily Mail link, that's rather bigoted of you.

From the welcome page of AnswerBank News section:

//// It is common practice to offer a link to the news article you would like to discuss. ///

It seems to both you and myself that it is just a waste of time posting links to our threads, because there are some who don't even bother to read them, yet seem to think that they can still carry out a fair and level debate on the subject in hand.
Question Author
i know that some don't look at the links, occasionally i am remiss, sorry, but have followed the story already on the news, so do know what it's about.
Question Author
yes he did, since when was this site regulated by the contributors.

Why you have posted this again? AOG posted on this story already...
