This has really upset and worried me. I know they have to face terrible conditions in Afghanistan, etc., but surely there should have been more supervision and observation on a training exercise.

Lot of macho crap being spouted by people willing to forgive the armed forces anything. This was not one isolated casulty by two deaths Of Territorial Army people - not even full time soldiers What next? shooting recruits because that's what they might expect. I wonder if some of these people voicing these opinions would feel comfortable doing so to the...

Oh so as a 15 year old you think it is inadvisable do you? This is not the Brownies or Girl guides we are talking about here, these adult troops have a tough job to do, and for them to carry out that job they need to take part in some tough exercises, many also have to sleep in the open on the Brecon Beacons during extreme winter conditions, it's all part of the job.

Yes as a 15 year old I do think it's inadviseable, and perhaps if you had started thinking at 15 you might have come to some slightly more rational conclusions by now. Seeking to denigrate people who have opinions other than your own only cheapens and weakens your own.Oh and I've never been in the Girl Guides or the Brownies, I do however go orienteering and mountain climbing as well as terrain running so I'm not completely talking out of the same orifice some people are.

the army etc probably need to have more individual training in knowing when they are genuinely in danger in these circumstances ... how to read their own bodies warnings
i expect these two lads were suffering terribly, but bravado and shame etc prevented them just stopping and telling the sergeant they needed help or to just stop for a bit, for fear of being labelled a wuss or something, so they just pushed and pushed themselves, thinking its meant to be hard and that everyone else is suffering too- and that it must be safe or they wouldn't be doing it.
the sergeant should have been taking regular checks on them and not just accepting an 'i'm ok' as the truth.

Oh, please Sir, could we not fight this war today Sir? it's very hot and my Uniforms sticking to me, I'm not comfortable, and I daresay the Enemy feel the same, should we ask them nicely Sir, to put things on hold until it cools down a bit Sir, I'm sure they won't mind or take advantage of us sitting in the shade, Sir!

Firstly how very 'inadvisable' of you caring out those dangerous pursuits at such an early age, and secondly didn't your parents ever teach you in the correct ways of how to conduct yourself in the presence of your elders?
To use such expressions as "talking out of different orifice" at the age of 15, is something I would never have allowed any daughter of mine to use, especially when aimed at an adult.
Utterly disgusting.
