/// It said the involvement of British troops was "in line" with their current advisory role. ///

/// "In support of the Afghan forces who now have the security lead across the country, UK personnel do on occasion operate outside the usual UK area of operations in central Helmand in an advisory capacity, " the Ministry of Defence said in a statement. ///

Why do our troops now have to enter these dangerous zones in their current advisory role?

no idea, perhaps someone thought it a good idea.
Sangin is in Helmand province the area which was/is under British control. That is why the British are helping and not the US or Dutch.

If our involvement these last 12 years was to nulify al qaeda/Taliban, then it would be an insult to all those British soldiers who have died in that persuit, by ignoring this current call for help.

You are wrong we handed the responsibility for security in Sangin to US forces, way back in 2010.

It seems to me that these 3 paragraphs summarise the "why" within your question, AoG.

"The Ministry of Defence said specialist advisers from the Brigade Advisory Group, made up of the 4th Battalion The Rifles, provided support to the UK-mentored 3/215 Brigade for the eight-day mission, "in line" with their current advisory role.

In a statement, it said: "In support of the Afghan forces who now have the security lead across the country, UK personnel do on occasion operate outside the usual UK area of operations in central Helmand in an advisory capacity.

"These out-of-area operations have been a long-standing element of the UK mission in Afghanistan and are completely in line with our current role of providing training, advice and assistance to the Afghan National Security Forces."

Your link says the British had trained the Afghan troops that needed support.
They obviously preferred to work with the Britishthat they new, than the yanks.
