Brilliantly funny advert for Marmite this week ::

But now there is a big fuss because 278 people have found it offensive apparently :::

Given that millions of people must have seen this advert, does anyone think that a mere 278 complaints is really representative of public opinion ? Are some people so sensitive that they are going to be offended by just about anything ?

Oh , I rather hoped that there were 278 more people I would never converse with.

Do we know for certain if its really Michael Burke doing the commentary or is it somebody like Jon Culshaw ?
> The advert, which features the voice of BBC journalist Michael Buerk, parodies a team of welfare officers as they uncover neglected Marmite jars "stuck right at the back" of kitchen cupboards.

Thanks ellipsis !
When OH and I saw this advert last night I actually said to him "I bet there'll be complaints about it". Looks like I was right then. People need to grow a sense of humour! The ad's brilliant.
Some people seriously need to go out a bit more often if they find this offensive!

Actually I have just watched the film clip again, and I missed it first time around, but the little boy right at the end doesn't look like a Marmite fan after all !

I can't think of many food products that have such self-deprecating adverts, but as Marmite still seems to be selling in respectable numbers, than it must be a case of any publicity is good publicity !
I used to be very involved in animal rescue.
I really like this ad and found it very funny.
If anything, it reminds us of animal rescue workers and the good they do. And, it must be said, the tone of the commentary does border on the drily reverential in the genuine programmes, and the advert captures that.
Long story, but I got together with the love of my life because of Marmite Cheddar.

So I love Marmite and think the ad id fab!
Watched it this morning and thought it was funny. I am sure spoofing an animal rescue documentary is not grounds for it being offensive.
Well it's made me feel really guilty so have hauled jar from back of cupboard, wiped it down and cuddled it, all's well now.

I ♥ marmite.
Saw this advert last night and both me and my partner laughed out loud - partly because until you see the first Marmite jar, we both assumed it was a genuine animal rescue add - it was nice to be fooled.

In fact, when it finished I said, "That's going to do well at next year's advertising awards".

So...I've not checked the link, and for the life of me...I can't work out what the complaints could be.

Looking now...
Good Lord...
I'm offended that only 278 people have complained about such an absolutely stupid advert !
lol @ netibiza that made me really laugh lol i love marmite keep it coming on toast PLEASE!!
madiba - great avatar & username :-)
