My dictionary definition of "savage" - (adj) wild, uncivilised (n) an uncivilised person. Nothing mentioned about 17th century colonialism.

These people abused and neglected elderly and extremely vulnerable patients who were supposedly in their care. I would say that was fairly wild and uncivilised.

I take issue with "...the real punishment is that, they will not work in that environment ever again". That may be a bit inconvenient to them but it is an absolute godsend to anybody who may have been unfortunate enough to find themselves in their "care".
Thanks for clearing that up, boxtops. So nobody knows from the link what these women have actually done, or failed to do.

Was your dictionary written in the 17th century? Probably not. Have a read of John Drydens The Conquest of Granada when you have the time.
hc - yes, scroll down the link in the OP, the abuse is described.
not the least of it, they worked in Whipps Cross Hospital, they should have all gone to prison for minimum of 5 years.

The women would physically and verbally abuse patients, often telling them to shut up, as well as handling them in a rough and aggressive manner, the trial heard.

Sakyiwaa, held a bed sheet over 87-year-old Joan Massett's head and told her she was dead.
Incredible as t may seem, Kramer, it is no longer the 17th Century. Nor, when I last looked, was Whipps Cross anywhere remotely adjacent to Grenada.
If they had defrauded the hospital in some way THEN they would get 5 years minimum. You should know that, in this day and age, stealing money is much more serious than harming another human being, sad fact of life.
so it is, despicable excuses for human beings

kramer/boxtops, for what they did to those old ladies, "savages" is apt.
