Andy, the abuses perpetrated by Roman Catholic priests certainly haven’t been ignored – and Brenden is right. The people of this country are tolerant of other religions, but, quite rightly, not so tolerant of some of the practices those religions endorse – and nor should they be.

sadly Andy Muslims are not a small minority in the capital, the values of which we have striven so hard for and the democracy which has cost us dear in men and women's lives over the last number of years, are being tossed on the bonfire of political correctness, our police, councils, government bodies, schools and universities, have been bending over backwards to accommodate so called minorities, and if this goes on any longer this could well impact on our children and their children. It might be it will all come right, but i see little evidence of that here,

whilst you are being tolerant and all forgiving, some in our midst want to smash this countries values to bits. If you didn't see the ITV programme and had not heard just how prevalent child marriage is within their communities then perhaps do a catch up.
it is not just the programme that has highlighted this matter, it has been known about for a long while, but essentially those who know it goes on will not say out loud for fear of being ostracised by their families, same for FGM. if the parents take the young girls out of the country and they are married in Pakistan or wherever it's permissible, then there is nothing the law can do on their return, because the law would not be aware... married in sharia law, their law, not ours.

14's the age of consent in Germany (15 in France), so this is isn't wildly out of line with the civilised world, however contrary to UK law it may be.

suggest that is pretty big and getting bigger, seeing as how Christianity come what may is on the wane, church attendances in the capital are relatively small, Islam will be the dominant religion in years to come. There are lots of Mosques, and many churches, but most of the churches are now almost museum pieces, our local one gets sunday church attendance of half a dozen people, how does that compare to those who attend a mosque?

how do i know it gets those few, not because i attend, but a close friend does, she is elderly and they are a small band of hardy souls, but the local prayer centre for Muslims gets hundreds, and Finsbury Park Mosque, and the one near Bethnal Green gets thousands.

you can't marry an eight year old to any man, but that is happening, and not just in predominately Islamic faith countries,
perhaps you should see the video they showed of the imam espousing on the rights in Sharia for a girl to be married as she reaches puberty or younger, and that men can take up to 4 wives, that is not our custom, culture, why would it be.

Atheists are probably more likely to criticise Islamic religious extremism than Christian church goers are

it seems to me that one group of people who live their lives based on fairy stories, the supernatural and hearing voices are often too tolerant of other groups who do the same - hence all those 'inter-faith' pantomimes

atheism is not a religion and we ignore the warnings at our peril. Much of Africa is being targeted by Islamic fundamentalists, China has it's fair share of Muslims, as does much of Europe, there are plenty of fanatics who will die for their faith, and more follow as we see in the likes of Al Qaeda, Al Shaabob, and the rest.
