We dont enforce the laws we have and if we do the ECHR is soon on our back causing us to spend a fortune lining lawyers pockets.
On top of this it does not actually solve the biggest problem of the big influx of scum we get from eastern Europe thanks to the EU.
Surely we would be better just leaving everything Europe as that is what causes us the greatest grief. then we can adopt an immigration policy that the country and infrastructure can support and is beneficial for all (natives and immigrants)

I think a lot of this is PR and spin rather than anything that will really make a difference - not sure how many illegal immigrants want or have bank accounts in the first place, or have the ID needed to open a bank account nowadays - same about driving licences really. A lot of immigrants (illegal and otherwise) are staying in beds in sheds, large HMOs, etc. where the landlords are already often breaking the law by their existence or having that many people living there so I cannot see those sort of landlords being overly bothered about checking someone's immigration status.
