All be it by peaceful means...so far. The recent sensoring/complaints about my avatar have inspired this post. Thanks I'm off to find a fluffy bunny.

how many went on to have successful careers, one being Josef Mengele, who lived out his days, admittedly he moved around quite a bit, but eventually settled back in Germany.... we won the war but lost the race. Germany has proven that it still has a way to win in Europe, by dint of the back door approach, it does have more to gain than most from the EU< at least that is how i have seen this all along.

I don't see why being an industrial/technical/economic powerhouse is a /back door approach/?
If we had as many people around the world queuing up to buy as much of our product as Germany does, we would be more 'dominant' in europe too.

seeing this man's work on the V1 and V2 rockets that devastated the capital and more i can't but wonder that he shipped out to USA and also had a very successful career. In my book he was every bit as guilty as Himmler, Goebels, Hitler for atrocities.

you need to look up the lend lease agreement, or perhaps you are already aware of it, that was money beyond all measure, without it we would have probably sunk without trace, but the interest rates were usury.
i would rather we trade and were friends with the USA than our so called brother Europeans.

The americans aren't interested in trading just with us
EU is the biggest economy in the world
it's a meaningful market and trading partner
and many of the americans I deal with have trouble understanding there can be any significant differences within that

the only thing i could add was that the Americans with the aid of many foreign born scientists developed a weapon beyond all weapons, that the use of one such or two, saved millions more in a land war with the Japanese, much as i loathe to say this, it was a necessary evil, but now that Pandora's box is open there is no going back.
/not sure about that /

That website is listing individual European states e.g. it has Germany at #4 and France at #5
The EU as a bloc is the largest economy in the world
/The economy of the European Union generates a GDP of over €12.894 trillion (US$16.566 trillion in 2012)[1] according to Eurostat, which makes it the largest economy in the world/

after all look at the stats on Spain, it's economy, its high unemployment, particularly amongst the young, the Greeks, a basket case, Italy not far behind, Germany is the true player in all this. Trading with USA and other blocs is good, that is why Cameron and team are in China, better ties with India, Brazil, another emerging economy and more, it's looking to the future, whilst what we have with Europe as far as i can see is a retrograde step. Considering the impact it has had and continues to do on our laws, borders who we can and cannot deport seems absurd in the extreme. You can't imagine telling USA who they can and cannot get rid of if they want can you?
China has to trade with Europe
They don't have to trade with UK
That is the trading leverage membership gives us
/You can't imagine telling USA who they can and cannot get rid of if they want can you? /
Yes actually
The parallel may be that individual states have individual laws
But have to conform to Federal Laws in certain matters
Texas and California have great diversity in their Laws; but neither can deport whoever they like

That's bazzer's usual cry when people don't automatically adopt but challenge his rather 'individual' point of view "
because when people like you keep on posting the same old drivel then of course its going to get the same answer.
So, you think nobody else has the same view on the eussr and its plans and ulterior motives then.....oh of course you just like arguing so its of no interest to you

we couldn't tell the USA who they can have in their borders, yet we cannot boot out or keep out EU nationals who are allowed here because of an agreement made by those who seem to have absolutely no sense whatsoever. And we can and have traded with China, without the need to be involved in the EU, what makes anyone think they are the be all and end all of trade.

Yes bazzy
but like most people on here, I have reasoning and ideas to support my arguments
You are different
You are one of the (mercifully) few ABers who just have 'a stance' on a limited number of topics; usually expressed bluntly - if not rudely- and uncluttered with anything resembling an intelligent justification, original thought or rationale.
Don't you get bored just parroting the same old clichés?
