can't say i like this
let us hope that the Scots and those who vote for independence don't win, or if they do we get a better design than this.

I really do hope that it's not changed.

Question Author
actually they are all awful.
Quite cool.
Question Author
you need to scroll down, i think the first one is ghastly.
Jeez yes, who designed them, a class of infants?
Question Author
don't know but aren't they grim, lets keep it as it is no matter win or lose.
Question Author
no, far too red. i love our flag, it's a very recognisable one.
There's actually no need to change it. They should just keep the blue bits irrespective of Scottish independence.
I doubt it will change radically is at all - I like the fourth one in the link though.
I'm with ludwig, why bother changing it?

The newly designed flag should be a dancing couple rampant against a background of a Cross, to reflect the publics obsession with Strictly Come Dancing and the X-Factor :)
I would like to see the flag of my country/the Principality incorporated into the Union Flag one day, in whatever guise is deemed fit.
Just replace the blue with green. simple

And yes, it should change to show the sweaties are not part of the club.
the union jack isn't a great flag now - a compromise mashup of three flags and people don't know which way to fly it. I can't say any of the new ones look worse.
Question Author
i want to keep it as it is, i don't like any of these designs, and the Union Jack, or Union flag is a very good and well known flag.
Question Author
why isn't it a good flag, do you suppose people associate it with empire, if so that would be foolish.
Question Author
jtp, bloody hope not.
How about the Jolly Roger? Seems appropriate enough to me :-)
If Scotland gets independence, will the remaining nations still be called the United Kingdom?

If so, why can't they keep the Union Flag? There will still be a union between England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Lots of people love the Union Flag, leave it be.
