If this is not demeaning towards white women as well as being blatantly racist I do not know what is.

To add to my previous answer - my perception of this situation is that this man is drawing attention to what he sees as a 'complex social issue' whereas, as I said, I believe he is about half a century too late.
This is on a par with saying that men with cropped hair are football hooligans - it may have been broadly true once, but certainly no longer.
I think he is attempting to shock, which as a 'performance artist' is within his remit, and he has succeeded, and he is offering a social comment which is years out of date, and he has failed.
As far as the AB ladies are concerned, I would venture to suggest that few of them think it worth their time to comment - it's simply another man attention-seeking - so par for the course!

/// Interestingly (or not) Nate does not see himself as Black..///
Really believe that do you, most mixed race see themselves as black, but then they are in the unique position to be either black or white according to which is most advantageous.
Perhaps the next time this 'artist' wants to get his own particular point over he will see himself as black.

/// if he was white and draped a bevy of black women across his shoulders would that be as shocking? would the black community be up in arms, probably not i suspect. ///
Mmmmmmm know them that well do you, I am sorry but I suspect they would be 'up in arms', that is if such pictures would be allowed to be published.

i would say from my own experiences and the mixed race men and women i have socialised, worked with they consider themselves black as above bi racial, or whatever label is current.
as to the other matters i cited, perhaps it isn't in the post, however these snaps seem quite tame in comparison with many i have seen. Art for art sake, well is what he posed as art or just trying to make a point, who knows.
i don't get annoyed at such photo's, subject matter,

Now you do not really believe this do you Andy any more than you believed I would shrink away from debate?
Obviously unlike you, I have never classed the ladies on Answerbank as 'shrinking violets' no generally they come out fighting in support of their femininity, but for some reason only known to themselves in this case many have chosen not to get involved, and that is their privilege, but even without their support I still deem this all rather offensive towards our ladies.
