So, the Duchess of Cambridge did this all on her own?? Didn't her husband have a say? Read that the "red" tiles will weather nicely in a very short time. Sh*t stirring IMO.

The roof is new and will weather over time. By the looks of the before and after pictures the new ones have been doctored as well as even the brickwork and window surrounds look brighter.

Well, they saved some money, or the Queen has. The original tiles appear to be slate. The new ones are standard tiles. They will fade over time but are not really in keeping with a building of that age and style. But hardly worth a complaint, and the unstated idea that a neighbour couldn't bear to live near anything as common as a Barratt home is quite amusing. The neighbour specified Barratt; they didn't say simply that the tiles were too bright.

Yes , the 'after' photo has clearly been edited to make the brickwork look much brighter so as to make a point in a typical Daily Wail non story.

I doubt ver much that the tiles on before the red ones were the original tiles - the house dates back to around 1830.

Once the new clay tiles have bedded in and weathered they will be fine.

I know that area and the residents believe themselves to be a cut above the rest!

You must remember Fred that not everyone is on Answerbank where some are always telling others how they should address certain matters.

I'm a bit confused. What is it exactly that I'm supposed to outraged about? Is it any of the following.

Princess Kate has less taste than your average chav.

Her neighbours are so snobbish that they think Kate is a chav.

The Mail has dared to criticise the sister of the girl with the best ass in UK.

The fact that Barretts houses are only one step up from your average Soweta corrugated iron slum shanty.

The fact that Barrets houses are unsurpassable in terms of quality, taste, and value.
