Memories of sitting on the front row to watch The Lion In Winter, we'd got there late, and I felt he was going to stand on my head as he stomped across the screen. He'll be sadly missed.

Last of the 'hell raisers' - hopefully that ludicrous outdated label will pass on with him.

Being a 'hell raiser' was a polite 'manly' term for men who liked to get drunk, shout a lot, smash furniture and pass out.
