Is there no end to the myriad usages of tax payers money in the wastage and proliferation of inane ideas in the NHS.

But, seemingly, this isn't confined to a particular NHS Trust, it may well be endemic, (no pun intended)..

Is this another attempt to persuade us that obesity should be seen as "normal".... well NOT in my world!!

Of course nibbles is entitled to their own opinion. It is also our right to point out why that opinion is outdated and crass. The 'taxpayer' point was a statement not an opinion and I (and others) pointed out it was incorrect.
But it wasn't a 'purchase'.

//The £1,000 bariatric suit was bought by a hospital charity.

Sewing Room staff, Denise Briggs and Susan Meakin, rose to the challenge! The first prototype was made and tested. Its effectiveness was immediately apparent but be worn by a small person. Back to the Sewing Room staff: Could they make it bigger? And so the second prototype was made in time for the Moving & Handling Training Passport launch event in June //

Still not sure about taxpayers money involved
I think it`s quite a good idea. Obesity is a growing problem. We do a manual handing refresher every year and in the long term, it saves the company money as there are less injuries by staff. Maybe the same will be said for the NHS - the £1000 might be a good investment.
I think because this is a two strand (at least) story, it was easy at first to see it as 'NHS staff get to play in fat suits'.

Understanding how patients feel is important, not always possible of course - when I first started my Glaucoma treatment, there were many tests I found uncomfortable and made me jump. I would apologise and try to explain how they made me feel.

The young woman stopped me, touched the back of my hand gently and said 'Lynne, I know how it feels, we all have to have it done, so we understand'. That put me much more at ease afterwards.

I know it is impossible in all departments, cannot insist all midwives get pregnant (well not the male ones ) for example, but where a greater understanding is possible, I think it is to the good.

Then there is the safety angle too as said.

As is my "right" to misinterpret an article, which is where I started from, zacs?

However, as has been pointed out it is an excellent training aid for the staff, even if I didn't originally read the article as such, and as such has merit.

And if a Gay person should be admitted for any reason . . . . . . .

Spot on Nibble...- filmic and a waste of time and money.

Yes a charity did provide the money to pay for the suit, but where do you tho.nk that the Charity got the money from? Donations and you think a bloody fat suit is good use of donations.

Peterborough and District were overspent over £39 million this year and expect to ask the Dept of health for another £44 million to stay in business.
So, with donations, they diced a "fat suit" is the answer.

Madness.
Sorry about the spellings, but my hand is shaking with fury.
