On the subject in question I think he should be incarcerated for at least 10 years, yes it's manslaughter but this case has is a particulary nasty feel to it. The guy intended to do damage simply because his mate was "dissed" for riding on the pavement. The guy is a danger to the public and should be locked up in a proper prison but I suppose I'll have to settle fo one of ours.

i read through the piece, i understand, but the severity of the punch, it was loaded, a boxer couldn't have done more damage, the man fell backwards with considerable force, going on the footage, smashed his head, if it was a shove, a tap even then likely he would got up with his dignity in bits, but largely unscathed, as it was the man punched him with his body weight behind, he could have killed him outright, causing massive brain damage, before he hit the deck. I think that 4 years is appallingly lenient.

That was not an efficient punch, nothing like a boxer or martial artist it was basically a hay maker, came from well behind and hit hard hard enough to knock him out cold and thus hit his head on the ground. A Gyakazuki for example uses the hip twist, this guy did none of that. Added to that the victim was not a fit stong bloke and had slow reactions. Not only that he sent a telegram before he punched, did you also see where his head finished up? If he tried that on me I'd have used a left hand soto uke, followed by a right hand gyakazuki and a low kakomi to his left knee, game over.

having attended any number of boxing matches, you may be right, but i have watched amateur and professional, and they don't generally hold back, this chap didn't, he let fly with full force.

TTT, not sure what you mean, but this was an unfit individual, standing there, not with hands raised or with intent on causing the cyclist any harm, it was the man with him who did this, all because the chap had remonstrated with the cyclist on the dangers of cycling on the pavement

It takes sheer bad luck to turn someone from 'a bit of a hero' into a savage.

just watching the footage, this was with malice, he was not holding back, whether it was a haymaker, it was a full on punch, landed on a man who was not in any way expecting it, so might have been able to move out the way. the case is now under review, who knows, they might give him another six months.
