Remember The Flood Of Bulgarians And Romanians...
...that were predicted to be swamping our streets from January 1st onwards?
Not being funny...but where the hell are they? And why have the press gone all quiet on the story?
Does anyone feel concerned that we are now living in an age where papers can print wholly false stories, without checks and balances?
Is this an unforeseen product of the Internet age? With so much unverified information flooding our phones, tablets, PCs and other devices, do we just take everything with a pinch of salt now?

Gromit...I must take issue with you when you say that nothing much was achieved under the 13 years of Labour rule ::
1...National Minimum Wage. Not brought in between 1979 and 1997 but achieved in 1998, after the landslide victory in 1997.
2...Devolution for both Wales and Scotland
3...Distinct progress in Northern Ireland ( although, to be fair, Major should have his share of praise)
4...Significantly increased spending on health and education.
5...Real incomes of Britons grew by 18% 1997-2006.
On a more parochial level, in February 2007 the Welsh Assembly announced the donation of £2 million to the Aberfan Disaster Memorial Fund, in part as recompense for the money requisitioned by the government in the immediate aftermath of the disaster in 1966. This might not seem important in the scale of things but the Aberfan Disaster is still an unhealed wound here in the South Wales.
I know its fashionable for people hate Blair now for the Iraq war, but they have such short memories. He won three consecutive elections for Labour, a feat never seen before, and its probable that he could have done it a fourth time, had he not abdicated in favour of Gordon Brown.
