I have been accused in the past of being disingenuous by describing UKIP as BNP-lite but this link clearly demonstrates that some voters at least, have deserted the BNP for UKIP.

Nobody has yet answered my question about why anybody would vote UKIP in a General Election.
I repeat...they have no chance whatsoever of winning the May 2015 election, and therefore no chance of getting into power to enact their wish for Britain to leave the EU. ( Ladbrokes are currently giving odds of 100/1 for a UKIP majority ) Of course, some people may not have worked that out. But if people do understand that concept, then they can see that a vote of UKIP is wasted and would only make a Labour victory all the more probable.
Labour has shown no enthusiasm for leaving the EU, which some on here might not agree with, which is their right of course. And I am entitled to my view, which is that I would prefer us to remain in the EU.
If these UKIP supporters really want Britain to leave the EU, then the best chance of success would be to vote Tory. So I still don't understand why those people are so keen to vote UKIP. Why vote for a Party that has zero chance of winning ?
Not a difficult question surely...isn't there anyone that would like a go at explaining it ?

I understand a little where these frustrated voters are coming from but not their solution, which is to vote Ukip. As a Labour supporter of course, part of me delights in UKIP, as the Party just makes a Labour victory all the more probable. And I am on record as appreciating Farage's comic input into our daily affairs...they are worth the occasional titter !
But I still wish that Labour would win in a straight fight with the Tories.

I would agree that the two main parties have become closer divebuddy, but I can't agree that there is no discernible difference between the two. There is plenty of choice if you look for it.
Europe is one such area. Labour has shown no indication that it wishes to come out of the EEC, when the Tories are seriously divided over the subject.
And one of the first things that Labour did when it swept to power in 1997 was to introduce the National Minimum Wage. The Tories fought tooth and nail over the issue but lost the argument due to the huge Labour majority. Of course, they now say that they think it was a good idea all along, although fail to explain why they made no attempt to bring in such legislation from 1979 until 1997. Not only did they not attempt to bring in similar laws, they actually made the situation worse by disbanding various Wages Councils that existed to make sure that some workers were paid reasonable wages.
There is always choice divebuddy. But voting UKIP really isn't a very valid one, as it will achieve little of nothing, and that is the point of my question.

On the face of it UKip are saying what a lot of people want to hear. Out of the EU to stem the movement of immigrants. That is the main thrust of what Ukip are all about. I don't know of any other policy they have worth voting for. Cameron speaks with forked tongue and you can bet there will be some sort of climb down when the time comes for the supposed Referendum. Not understanding the voting system, one would say rather than vote for Labour (Liberals are not in the running) they would vote for the party who promises to stop the tide of more benefit seekers. I have considered that myself but I'm not committed to it.

Mikey, perhaps they won't make a real difference, but a vote elsewhere is food for thought for the main parties - and that's not a bad thing.

Naomi...people can and will vote for whoever they like and I would defend their right to do so. Its just that I can't understand why.
Here in Wales, a minority of people vote Plaid Cymru in Westminster Elections. Not of any significance in Britain whatsoever, any more than the vote for the Greens in Brighton. But it still remains that a vote for these fringe Parties remains a protest vote only......at best a vote for UKIP will help Labour wins the next General Election, just what UKIP voters don't want !
