AOG ~ I admit to not being much of a foodie but the menu, to me, sounds awful. The beef and the ice cream would be my limit.

I don't know about wines so can't even guess as to how much all that cost us. but the meal wasn't OTT.

I think Mr Barker made his point in a dignified manner and who can fault him.


The Menu is as one would expect for a state occasion, I would have passed on the stuffed onions lovely as they sound.

I am sure the wines were an excellent choice too.

Judi Dench is a Dame of the British Empire, though there are likely other reasons for her attendance than that.

Nice enough menu. And for the record I have seen collections for food banks at Waitrose in Windsor.

As to why 'M' was there, hopefully it was to explain why she was still operational ~ 20 years after the normal retirement age for her grade.

She could have gone for thousand pound bottles of wine (wit a Léoville Barton 1955 though I would prefer the same vintage for a Chateau St Pierre.).

I guess it would have been baked beans on toast and Irn Bru if she had entertained you.......!

If you had a spark of humour in your body, you would realise that it was a joke and 'M' was the character from James Bond films, that stared Dame Judi Dench, not McGuinness as you incorrectly assumed, hence the jpg link.
