perhaps its a story that bypassed AB
Question Author
It has been widely reported on TV.
i haven't seen it - not lately.
we have more than our fair share of appalling cases, sorry but this i just another in a long line, mistaken identity, this happens in the capital, drive by shooting killed a young woman, she had no connections to gangs, crime, she was minding her own business, they don't care who they hurt.

/// daily coverage in the Leicester mercury ///

The trial of seven men and a teenager accused of killing a mother and her three children, and this is classed only as local news, what are we coming to?

you posted a link to the Mail, so its there in the national paper.

Then it is about time that if one commits a gang serious crime then one should be given a true life term in prison.

It is time gang crime was taken seriously, and they were removed permanently from our streets.
you have to catch them first.

Well that is stating the obvious, but there are seven men and a teenager already caught here, so they could start with these, if they are indeed found guilty of course.
Whilst tragic and appalling, the story may lose some of its Newsworthy 'edge' because the killers did not intend to kill the victims they did and it was due to incompetence.

Whilst no comfort to the victims' families, it doesn't have the narrative sharpness of 'Killer Gang target neurosurgeon mother and her children'

i am neither, i am merely pointing out that its commonplace here, and many of these stories get two inches of space in the paper,
and here is one from the 'pule.

Jason Osu took five bullets to his liver and lived for ten more days
His brother refused police protection altho he may have been the intended target - droogz of course - because [or and] you have to make a voluntary declaration if you accept police protection

and there had been diddly squat in the nationals

Poor Jason - a qualified pilot - innocent beyond doubt
got no mention because drug hits happen alot and he black .

(well British Afro-caribbean to be exact )

Yes very strange we heard little of this also, what is the reason I wonder?
oops forgot a link

here is an old one:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-20560534

This one says Mark the unshot brother is a drug gang leader
gang-on-gang violence - and its occasional collateral damage - often gets very little coverage. the spat in Birmingham between the johnson crew and the burger bar boys was practically unknown for years outside the immediate area, despite the growing number of shootings on the streets. until, that is, the shooting and killing of several uninvolved persons at new year 2003, when at last the authorities began to get a grip.
