As he is likely to get a very lengthy prison sentence in the USA should his family still be living in a £1.25m house in West London with £650 a week benefits.

As he has a right to a family life (as a lot of terrorists say their human rights dictates)...then maybe his family should go and live in the USA to be close to him, and the US government pick up the tab for rehoming them.

no idea, whilst we are being advised to downsize, or leave the borough, this family is allowed to stay, i guess if they own a house why don't they move there.
And they say life is hard on benefits. Not for that family it isn't. Probably funded the purchase of their 2nd home out of the proceeds of crime as well as their benefits. I wonder if any of the family is actually working.
ladybirder - looks like we don't have much chance of ever ridding ourselves of this free-loader.

khandro - I want him to be happy with the laws he proposes we should live under. not the laws we have for most of this land but the ones he wants. bless him.

@ Sandyroe (on page 1) who ! thought was Irish

///Are his children not as English as you or me?///

They may be British, but they will never be English!
>CONVICTED hate preacher Abu Hamza’s family will continue to
live in their taxpayer-funded £1.25million house – and receive
£650 a week in state benefits.

One makeover cost £25,000 and included a £13,500 kitchen and
£8,500 bathroom.

Hamza also bought a £220,000 buy to let home in the city while
he was in prison.

He was able to do so because the family home is in his wife's name. <

can anyone explain how they get these makeovers if he owns another property or even has any cash in the bank

because up north they check , well they do on the people i have spoken with

If they have a second home they should be forced to leave the tax payer funded one. This country is constantly being taken for mugs by people like this.
its not the people barney, its those who are supposedly running the councils and the country - or maybe its to do with don't rock the boat.
Question Author
emmie, sorry I disagree remember these people ask (or more accurately demand)the councils in the first place its not as though the councils say "would you like a luxury home to live in?" Once they are in the system then yes councils are in fear of offending them.
The property was seized to pay legal fees.

"In 2006 it emerged he had bought a four-bedroom semi in Greenford for £220,000 cash while in prison.

At the same time the Islamist extremist was running up a legal aid bill which had then cost the taxpayer £250,000, and the property was later seized to claw back some of the cash."

so they don't have another home, if there is only her and three children why aren't they being asked to move.
Read the last couple of paragraphs, emmie.

Thanks for the clarification Roy....incredible that his wife and 2 children live in a 5 bedroom tax, they should be paying the bedroom tax on those 2 extra bedrooms though pointless I suppose seeing its tax payer funded, isn't it ironic the rules for fixed term tenancies were changed .
-- answer removed --
thanks for that roy i was having problems understanding how they could claim so much if they owned property and had another income
> This is commonly known as 'the bedroom tax'. Reduced housing benefit if you have a spare bedroom
Nobody will convince me that the family of Abu Hamza were not complicit in his terrorism and views - they should all be deported as a threat to this country.
there is already a cap on housing benefits, do they get it?
