After a trial lasting 8 months there's NO chance the jury will finish this month!

Seriously? I reckon they're looking at 5-7 each if found guilty, but that's just a rough guesstimate.

Gromit.......Why do not think that these people will not go to prison, if found guilty ? They have been tried on very serious charges, including conspiracy. If they are found guilty, as looks likely, how can they miss out on a jail sentence ?

Maximum sentence for conspiring to commit misconduct in public office and conspiracy to pervert the cause of justice is life imprisonment!

Goodman might get a couple of years and Kuttner. But Coulson and Brookes will probably get off lightly a few months at most or suspended.

Charlie Brookes and the security officer are guilty but again, a few months at most.

I am preparing myself to be underwhelmed by the sentences. The above are merely guesses. I am doubting Coulson and Brookes will be judged as the main players, and more like in the know but turning a blind eye. Goodman is the main guilty party and Kuttner was in charge when he went over the mark. Sure Brookes and Coulson knew, but inherited the practice. Rap on the knuckles and a few months gulag or less.

Those hoping Cameron's mates go down for several years will be disappointed. These people are well connected and have led charmed lives. Their reputations will be temporarily sullied, but she will probably be quickly rehabilitated, maybe deputy chairman of the Conservative Party before 2020.

Is phone hacking really a bad crime? Is it worse than rape or robbery with violence? Because that is the comparable sentence you are looking at.

I wonder how much hope the Dowler's had raised when they found out her voicemails had been accessed, only to be dashed so cruelly.
Plus we are talking about people paying Police Officers for very priveleged information.
Where will it end? Copper on a Royal Protection Squad paid to miss a vital security check or miss a piece of intelligence, resulting in a kidnap?
As someone once said in a marketing strategy, the possibilities are endless......
