Why was Thatcher so keen to get a knighthood for Savile, four times she tried to get him a knighthood ,before succeeding in 1990.WHY?

Eleven Christmases was untrue according to Thatcher's daughter Carol, it was not as many as that.

I can't remember who said it, I was flicking between channels, but it was said that he never spent xmas with her. He's a liar.

Savile did once boasted he spent 11 consecutive Christmases at Chequers', but Chequers is only four miles from Stoke Mandeville Hospital and he must have been very confused!

Thatcher was warned several times that there was concerns about Savile and she waited till making her resignation to bestow him the honour.

Years before Wilson refused to put Savile's name forward for an OBE so there must had been doubts even in 1970.

Probably because they were both control freaks, they felt they had something in common.

She obviously felt that his 'good works' deserved some sort of further recognition in addition to the OBE he was awarded in 1971 (Heath Government).

I'm just thinking from my own way of looking at things. I wouldn't let a creepy thing like him get one foot in the door. Even in his hay days I could never understand the appeal. His outward appearance sent shivers up and down my spine.

scrapping the barrel there! MrsT was the boss if she wanted him to have a K he'd have had one. Anyway she, like everyone else, was probably under the impression that he was a good guy at the time. Still 1990 was only 24 years ago and the great lady has passed. It still hasn't stopped idiots blaming her for everything since.
