Its difficult to believe that such wickedness could exist in such young boys. They have ruined the rest of their lives, in a few moments of madness.

Is it wicked, or never learning right from wrong, having no role models apart from their peers, too much violent on-line gaming, etc?

Probably all of these boxy...actually, almost certainly.

I was appalled at how young they were.

The problem with vidz is that you flatten someone and they get up again, which they dont in real life. But you cant really plead that in court
I don't see how they would encourage violence. I used to play them. Most people understand the difference between reality and video.
That's my view too, peter - you learn to be violently aggressive with these games, and compete in that with your peers.
It is not so difficult to believe. For those whose brains/mind works reasonable well it seems inconceivable to do such things, but the miracle is that brains/mind achieve a reasonable level of morality so often.
Video games are just a decent excuse to try in court.
They made me do it m'lord.
I blame Judas Priest lyrics meself. They've been out of favour for a while now.
That and never learning to speak through their mouths and breathe through their noses instead of the other way round.
It is all of those things video games, violent films and lyrics of the music, aping the drug gang culture. Peer pressure - being egged on to do something to look big and fearless. Thing is how do they backpedal, sending them to youth offender institutions sometimes makes them worst. Parents have a hard time bringing up children nowadays, they need to be even more vigilant.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with video gaming, I am a gamer, so is oh and so is our son, none of us are violent, and in fact oh and son have mensa level IQs.
I think it's nonsense to suggest that 'violent' video games are to blame and recent research doesn't suggest it either. I play violent games so does absolutely everyone I know and none of us would dream of behaving like that. You behave like that because you enjoy inflicting pain and misery on a living thing and when you get several people all together who are like minded you get this. I think lack of good parenting plays a massive part but computer games are nothing to do with it.
Hmm, you may well be right, K, but these games weren't around when we were young - and not everyone who plays has the intelligence to be able to switch off when they turn off the game.....
they are thugs, and I have no sympathy for them , they will be free soon and still be young men,
your link refers to three headline cases,

"Man shot dead and two others injured"

"Two charged over grandmother murder"

"Emergency halt to Banksy removal"

Can't see anything in these regarding "Boys so young".
I'm getting the same as AOG.
they must have changed the headline since yesterday- this related to the teenagers who stabbed another boy to death in a launderette.
It's because mikey didn't click on the actual story. I got 3 different articles yesterday.
That's what happens when you don't link to the actual article :-D
