I don't have any sympathy - every year I feel sorry for the bulls, it's not their fault.

To be fair, I don't think he's asking for any sympathy.
Also, what's the problem with them killing the bulls afterwards? Do you think that the ones that don't take part in the bull run get to retire off to a pasture somewhere and live happily until they die of natural causes? I doubt it.
At least these ones get the chance for run out and the chance to trample a few 'adrenaline junkies' before they get the chop.
Bullfighting's horrific because of the cruel way the bulls are killed. As long as these aren't subjected to the same barbarity I don't see the problem.
