Freddie didn't 'retire' to Ireland.

He moved there around 1979 when I was working at Corgi-Bantam and he was in his 40s and very much working; we had just published The Devil's Alternative.

I had a conversation with him at some 'do' or other and I think he was living (my old address book is at the office) in Bray, Berkshire which he loved but the move was an unashamed tax-avoidance switch.

Ireland had just introduced incremental tax breaks for artists/writers/film makers etc

Ok assuming that is the transcript of the youface video above (cannot access at work) then there is only one mention of the word "gay" - Children who need to be taught to respect traditional moral values are being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay." which to me looks like it's at worst tolerant and at best very accomodating so perhaps SP can tell me what he's on about.

Mikey, one of the reasons for choosing Australian coal was that it has much lower salt levels (which caused corrosion in the boilers of the power stations where most of the coal is burnt)than the local product
