I understood the games to have been an event organised entirely by Scotland, in Scotland. I cannot see quite how this makes a case for Scotland to remain part of the UK.
If Scotland leaves the UK it should apply to become a member of the Commonwealth in its own right. However, A recent speech by Sir Ronald Sanders (a consultant, senior fellow at London University and former Caribbean diplomat) included this:
"Joining the Commonwealth now is, therefore, a rigorous process and it is unlikely that, notwithstanding expressions of interest by two countries (South Sudan and Burundi), there will be any expansion of Commonwealth membership in the near future. The only exceptions to this general observation would be Zimbabwe and The Gambia where, if their governments were to rectify their record with respect to adherence to Commonwealth values, they would undoubtedly be welcomed back into the fold."
So they might struggle. What with that and joining the EU, I doubt they'll have much time for anything else !!!
