Was Hitler Good At Public Speaking?

Hitler was indeed a great orator, not so much in today’s sense perhaps, but for his time. The German people would not fall for this Austrian’s harsh way of speaking nowadays! He knew how to draw people’s attention and hold it, for a variety of reasons, the main being fear. He had mastered the art of raising the crescendo of his voice, and whipping people into a frenzy, to the point where those who were among his followers were jubilant and bursting with confidence and those who were not grew an inner fearfulness that told them it would be safer to join in, than refrain from showing approval. From the beginning, many common people became aware that if you did not show approval of the Nazi soldiers or even the Nazi Jugend, your business, your life and that of your family would be put in danger. Young boys, so impressed by Hitler’s ranting, would sign up to the Nazi Jugend in school, but many were also bullied into it. The more fanatic of these children would even report their parents if they showed any disapproval of the Nazis. So, should Hitler be used as an example of a good orator? With so many other superb orators to choose from, in my humble view, no. I personally really dislike Churchill and feel somewhat offended when people hold him up as a great man. He was in many ways, but he also was a monster for some. But I don’t mind accepting that he was a great speaker. In contrast, I would personally consider it bad taste and poor judgement to use Hitler in this context. Hitler did do other things well that would not cause so much offence if mentioned. The creation of the Autobahn being one. But I can tell you that UKIP would certainly not be gaining my vote using Hitler as someone to emulate with regards to speaking in public!

Mikey, I've read Krom's replies - I've read all the replies - but this question relates to one man's ability to speak well in public, and that's what I'm addressing. And still you're telling people who agree with you that they are endowed with common sense - implying that no one else is!
