I've heard that you don't get nectar points on wine at sainsburys any more, is this true?

Only one way to find out for sure; tomorrow I shall go to Sainsbuyr's, buy a bottle of wine, present my Nectar card and report back.

If you read this thread it appears to be true.
Near the end it seems that Sainsbury's admit that the wording 'spirits and liqueurs' is incorrect and that all alcohol is excluded now.
It is to do with complying with a new law not to sell alcohol at below cost.
Presumably giving Nectar points risks dragging cheap booze below the limits.

I just checked Tesco Clubcard exclusions and alcohol is not mentioned at all.

If you are given a discount voucher from Sainsbury, ie, spend £30 get £6 off, you CANNOT include wine in your purchase! I found out a few weeks ago when trying to take advantage of their voucher offer and made to look a fool at the till. I emailed head office after reading small print and complained that 'beers, liquers and spirits' does not include wines, after an exchange of more emails they credited my account with £6. Why dont they make it simple and state that 'alcohol' is not included in any offer, its so easy its unreal, but they choose to be awkward about it!!!
There is definitely inconsistency between stores here. In contrast to saintpeter's experience, I used a £4 off £40 voucher last week and had a bottle of wine in the trolley. However, this was after trying to buy a bottle of brandy and being told this wasn't included in the terms (I hadn't read the micro-print!). Luckily OH was with me so he made a quick dash back to the wine aisle to exchange the brandy for wine, while I waited at the checkout.
PS I was awarded Nectar points on everything, including wine.
