So Salmond wants to walk away without Scotlands share of the debt. Allow him to do so I say, in return there are not ties whatsoever with Scotland, Scottish in the UK will need a visa and borders will be locked down tight. To be honest I believe it is the best way for both countries.
The vote is so close that even if the Yes vote wins, the No will not go away which will be disastrous for Scotland and the UK as a whole.
All Scottish, please vote Yes to Independence and lets thrash out the separation asap so we can all get on with our lives for the better.
The ICM/Guardian exit poll had a thumping win for the First Minister so here's hoping the Scottish do see sense and leave the UK.

Not according to Mr Barroso (who ought to know about these things) they won't. In fact, it's doubtful if they would be admitted at all. From a BBC report:
"But the UK government and Better Together campaign have argued that Scotland would have to re-apply as a new state under Article 49 of the EU Treaty, which could take several years."
"This stance was backed by outgoing European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso, who told the BBC earlier this year that it would be "extremely difficult, if not impossible" for an independent Scotland to join the European Union."
Their relatively smooth admission could be enabled under Article 48 of the Treaty but would have to be passed unanimously by the existing members. Spain most certainly would not agree to this (fearful of the implications it would have for their troubled Basque region) so that would seem to put the kybosh on that idea. And, of course, there is no guarantee that the UK, the remains of which would still be full EU members, would agree, especially if Mt Salmond carries out his threat to separate without taking Scotland's share of the National debt.
At every turn proposals for Scottish Independence have been shown to be a "bag of a fag packet" exercise. No real solutions to these many and various problems have been put forward by the SNP, simply assuring potential "Yes" voters that it will be alright on the night. Much to my dismay the Scots would be extremely foolish to commit themselves to such an uncertain future and I believe the "Nos" will have it by a substantial majority (about 2-1) next month.

So do the Yes people really think they can walk away from their share of the UK's sovereign debt just by becoming independent?
So if this is correct then, with the precedent having been established by Scotland, the same logic would suggest that if England, Wales, and N Ireland all had a similar vote also granting themselves independence from the UK then our entire national debt would disappear!
Meanwhile in the real world...

As one of the 'people of Scotland' as AS describes the people who live in Scotland at this time, born and bred but living in England I am sickened by this whole horrible business.
What sickens me the most is the moral bankruptcy of the rhetoric of the Yes campaigners manifest by their total indifference to the impact a Scottish exit from the UK would have on everyone else in this country and elsewhere.
It's all about themselves and sod everyone else. To me as a Scot that level of selfishness and disregard for others is the exact opposite of what I always believed being Scottish was all about.
