So many victims and so scared ... it is heart breaking. BUT 'the police treated many child victims with contempt' that is appalling and makes them as guilty as the perpetrators in my opinion and should see them charged with aiding and abetting serious and multiple crimes.

This is the whole problem both the police, the council's leadership and senior managers, are frightened to take action in case they are thought racist.

Well should those 1,400 plus children been allowed to suffer just because of a word?

Now that all has been revelled there should be a wide scale search for these abusers and they should be jailed, while those responsible for the cover up should also be punished appropriately.

It appears a large number of the victims were Pakistani girls. It is ironic that racial sensitivites allowed these men to continued abusing girls from their own communities.

The women and girls feared reporting such incidents to the Police because it would affect their future marriage prospects. //

Terrible failure by the police and local authority.

This should never have happened. It doesn't matter where the victims or abusers come from, it should have been properly investigated and put an end to.

I cannot comprehend how any man can get pleasure from forcibly having sex with a young girl who is drugged, probably crying and absolutely distraught. Have they no feelings or empathy towards anyone? They are obviously total inadequates, soulless, devoid of any feelings who are unable to form a loving relationship with any woman.

Rubbish AOG - that's just your usual blinkered xenophobic outlook coming out. The real reason police, council leaders etc don't follow it up is because powerful people in these areas are all involved - I suggest you read "Smile For The Camera: The Double Life of Cyril Smith", by Simon Danczuk for further enlightenment on how pervasive these paedo rings are within the Establishment.

Rotherham is just another Oxford, Rochdale, Telford, Derby - with exploitation almost a way of life in some communities.

Is there anything to be gained by the Rotherham Council chief resigning? Last year the CEO of Derby County Council said: ''We did not know the nature of what was happening . . .''

Has nothing been learned?

Years of failings by Thames Valley police and Oxford social services have not been taken on board and these vile crimes continue.

So sad and upsetting to read about gangs of filthy perpetrators in many towns and cities in the UK preying on vulnerable girls.

159 pages of tears and nightmares

AOG I have only got up to the bit in the early 2000s when the problem was identified byt a small group of workers at the coal-face and so they got effectively fired ( I think ) - I cant read that quickly

I suspect ( ha ! pun geddit ) the perps knew/realised nothing was being done and the complaints ignored, and ( as far as learned behaviour goes ) that gave them the green light for anything-goes....

I am getting rather fed up with your continuous insults first troll and now xenophobia, if you had read the report these are the words of others I was just agreeing with them.

The reason why the head had fallen on his sword is that he (himself) chaired an inquiry group in 2003 w r t to this abuse and....
no records of meetings nor minutes can be found.....oops
implying of course - there werent any.....

Altho AOG says he has read the report - I give the URL above and skimming it took 60 - 90 mins. Continuous record of problems being identified, ctees formed and problems ignored,

Risky Business - the only committee/organisation to be effective has been dissolved ( absorbed into the childrens services, "unlikely to survive in its present form" )

Recommedation 15 - that would be at the end p 145 or somewhere
says any decision about children should be taken with their interests paramount

Oh my (f) God ! That is only the children act 1989 !

The rest of the 160 pages are like that .....
