The question that never seems to be addresses is why they are so desperate to get into the UK rather than any of the countries in which they land (Greece or Italy) or the countries they pass through en-route, including France, or wealthier countries like Germany.

Re your 1757 post I really don't know how you got away with that without censure from a certain cave dweller from Cambria and the rest of his bleedin heart trendy lefty do gooder ilk.I would quite agree with the measure you propose, however, I believe a large airtight shed should be built on the dock approach to a Britain bound ferry in France. There would have to be multi national signs stating that all lorries will enter this vacuum chamber,about fifty at a time, and drivers leave their cabs and wait ten minutes whilst all air is sucked out of the vacuum chamber. Drivers hop into cabs and drive on to ferry. Job done. No one dies unless they are illiterate and can't read the signs. We don't get illegals via Calais and other French ports and the people of Calais are happy.

Perhaps jordyboy can site himself at the entrance to these vacuum chambers and persuade these criminals that their quest for a better life in England by the indigenous population here is not appreciated. Pensioners in this country who have fought for it, paid their taxes and obeyed the law would also seek a better life in THEIR country and not be dragged back into a third world hovel where these criminals originate from.

I don't think it's accurate to describe them all as criminals, retrocop. They may be desperate or may have been conned by paying thousands of pounds to people they are going to find fortune and a warm welcome here.

Maybe some of those issues should be addressed then, fender, but they seem to be swept under the carpet. But I think some have been misled by people traffickers who take large sums in return for exaggerated promises of benefits/jobs, riches and a warm welcome

Law and order is breaking down and attempts to storm a ferry is tantamount to piracy. That is illegal.
Rapes have occurred in Calais recently.Does that further any quest to seek a better life.Rape is illegal and Criminal. There is no excuse for rape in order to enter Britain illegally. If they can show their criminality in Calais,then as Jordyboy puts it, we do not need any further poor souls who are useless non English speaking criminals. The milk of kindness is running out jordyboy.Thats why we have food banks in this country for the first time in my lifetime.We can't afford to feed and heat our own people/pensioners.Money is running out in the kitty and a further influx of useless mouths to feed will not better the current situation.
