at least half get zapped on the grounds of weirdness and god-kn0ws-what.
Mikey needs 'to be with himself for a minute or two' and recover his sense of aplomb.Mikey may well not be a dandler of Royal babies in his lap and should be allowed to express his views no matter how unacceptable
For my part I am pleased - and also pleased with Wills's comment that there are other things like World Peace, detention without trial, clean water in Africa etc that peple should be occupying themselves with.

Tambo, for heaven's sake, neither Mikey nor anyone else is denying William and Kate and their immediate families the joy at the prospect of a new baby. You, however, appear to believe that there's something wrong with people who don't believe that the whole country should be compelled to participate in it!

The original question poster is of course, being a Scottish supremacist or his devotee, trying to conflate the story of how the Next king of whatever remains of the UK with the Scottish 'independence' referendum.
Earlier this year I became a grandfather. Having no biologically connected to me issue I never expected how happy it made me when my step-son said that not only was my wife was a grandmother but I was a grandfather!
I sometimes think that our symbolic monarchy, standing in the way, as they do, of any hideous substitute, serve to bring us together. It's not about them I believe, it's because we are given the opportunity, through their journey, to celebrate our own happiness.
What's wrong with that? (not withstanding the lack of a NHS proton beam facility)?

yonks ago, George III forfeit the income from his estates in return for a fixed sum from the government each year, with the government taking the profits; every monarch since then has made the same choice. today, the difference between the estates income and the civil list is a profit of £160m. if the monarchy were abolished, queenie would become mrs Windsor of acacia avenue, billionaire landlord, and the government would need to tax you £2.50 more each year to make up the difference.
52p out of pocket? or £2.50 out of pocket? your call.
-----
If Mrs Windsor had all her estates handed back by the state and she was assessed for income taxes, like every other landlord, how much revenue would that generate? How much of the £2.50 would that offset, if you prefer to answer in that form.
For comparison purposes, how much do the Duke of Westminster's income taxes amount to? (the guy who owns large areas of London and the reason many "property owners" do not actually have the Freehold).

The tragedy of idealists like yourself is that you have to filter the truth of human history out of your consciousness in order to hold true to whatever baloney you subscribe to.
We have a benign monarchy here in the UK, and when there is a royal baby on the way those of us who are open to empathic resonances from within our own lives rejoice with her, and , if the tables were somehow turned, the empathy would be reciprocated.
So what (because such a monumental vacuum left would have to be filled) would you replace our monarchy with? ISIS perhaps?
