Boris is a real character, maybe if we had more like him it would encourage better turn outs on Polling days...

He certainly has, yes.
Well well he was serious then. There is more to Boris than meets the eye.
I like Boris, he acts the buffoon but is a well educated, well read man. He knows what he's doing.

In what way is he a nutter?
He's a non conformist / slightly eccentric politician. I'm looking forward to him being PM.

I suppose the one thing you can say in Boris's favour is that he isn't called Alex Salmond.
Boris Johnson quote:
"I made a solemn vow to Londoners to lead them out of recession, bring down crime and deliver the growth, investment and jobs that this city so desperately needs. [i]Keeping that promise cannot be combined with any other political capacity.’[i]
Vow? Promise? It seems, even when getting married, that these words mean little to him!
I agree with jeza. He is probably the only politician I actually like.
Boris is setting himself up for a crack at the Tory leadership here. He has always coveted the job and he is now one stage away from achieving his ambition. As it stands at the moment, Boris will be Leader in about 12 months time, a few weeks after next years General Election.

All this has been written in the stars for many years now and nobody should be in any way surprised.
Boris would only stand for a very safe seat, he knows he would probably lose in an unsafe seat, and that would destroy his ego. Typical Tory Tactics.
Another Ex Eton schoolboy on his way to an even bigger gravy train.
Farrier, that’s not Tory tactics, it’s common sense political tactics. I can’t think of a Labour politician – even from those who have been to public school – who is as popular as Boris, but you can bet your boots that if Labour were fortunate enough to be able to count such a man among their ranks, they wouldn’t have him contesting an election in a staunch Conservative constituency. Think about it. It's not that difficult to work out.
Why do people post such weak political jibes? It really does weaken their standing as a serious contributor. From wiki:
In countries with parliamentary government, parties often try to ensure that their most talented politicians are selected to contest these seats. This is done in part to ensure that these politicians can stay in parliament, regardless of the specific election result, and that they can concentrate on ministerial roles without needing to spend too much effort on managing electorate-specific issues.
"standing as a serious contributor". Farrier? Are you serious?
Thought he might have put his name forward for Clacton.
Question Author
Boris was asked last month why he didn't put his name forward in Clacton and he said "I've already whacked in a CV for Uxbridge. I’ve put in for Uxbridge and I think first things first and that’s all.”
It's the first step to his becoming party leader.
Well Boris would say that wouldn't he Jomlett.
In the 1964 election the Labour shadow Foreign Secretary lost his seat against all the odds because of a local campaign of a racialist nature. A member for a very safe Labour seat was immediately sent to the Lords and he was shooed in as candidate at the resultant by-election. Unfortunately he lost again!
