Maybe it should be limited to one designated spouse/partner for performing such calculations ? It says subsequent marriages are not recognised under law. The article is a long one, does it say they intend claiming anything ?
No different to the many non-Muslim men in this country who have many children to multiple women like this chap:

He may not be married to all of them but neither are the Muslim men who 'marry' in the UK but do not officially register the marriages - and they can only register one, unless they remarry after divorce.
It says in the report that the women live in different houses, much like the man I linked to.

This family is even more interesting - he was living with seven wives and a mother in law, although two wives have now left.

Look AOG you dear old buffer - polygamy was considered by the High Court in around 1967. Clearly lawful if contracted outside the UK - so the question was when someone immigrated were wives two and three - deprived of their rights ? And their Lordships decided that they should.
For marriages contracted outside the UK
I have to say I am not sure if polygamy is recognised if contracted in the UK. I certainly dont lose sleep over this.
Finally the holy Quran clearly states that a man cannot take wife no 2 and 3 unless he can support all of them. I am not sure if the Sheikl marrying them has to assent and confirm this. Since all knowledge is in the Quran, including nuclear reactors - we know that there will be somewhere there the advice/ instruction about whether support from Income Support and Housing Benefit counts towards support. It'll be there somewhere.
The only thing I find surprising is that someone who is bright enough to do a ph D at Cambridge has come home one night and said - I wanna be a co-wife and live off benefits all my life.

As far as I'm aware, marriages conducted in Islamic ceremonies in this country can't be registered at all. Without a registrar present in a place licensed to conduct marriages, such unions are not legal. To legalise the marriage the couple would need to organise a Civil ceremony.

Having multiple wives has no place in this country.
This is just another example of Muslim men subjugating women and treating them as nothing more than cattle, to be collected like a farmer collect farm animals.
I bet Muslim women cant have multiple husbands.
Women fought for decades to get the vote and get other privileges that men already had, yet by allowing so many Muslims in this country we have taken it back to Victorian times where many Muslim women are treated so badly.
What on earth were we doing allowing so many Muslims in this country.
