Max Clifford Wants A Lighter Sentence

What do we all think about this ? He did have quite a heavy sentence but was it too heavy ?

Hardly surprising and I think the sentence was in reality far too heavy. Seems the justice system is trying to justify the huge expense and failures of the past on one man.

That said I'd be more than happy to sentence Clifford to life, he is a right odious man.

Isn't that a contradicition - 'too light' to 'life'?

Being odious is not in itself a crime - just as well, otherwise the House Of Commons would empty overnight!

Even though I cant stand the man, I think the sentence was far too heavy, and people have been given far lighter sentences for worse crimes!

I think you read my post a little too literally.

First part is my impartial opinion

Second bit relates to me hating the man so I'd be happy for him to get life. More for my own gratification and despising rather than any legal reason obviously.

I wouldn't call him a monster; best save that term for the Saviles of the world. But the sentence isn't monstrous either. It sounds about right to me.

I'd be prepared to bet that the Court of Appeal removes the consecutive nature of the sentence and makes it concurrent. Just a feeling. He'll still have been sentenced to all those years, but will only actually serve about two and a half.
