There are 100s of people a day coming into the UK from West Africa, even with no direct flights they will just use an indirect route. We would need to house them all in a quarantine area for 3 or 4 weeks. There would be 1,000s to be quarantined where the hell could we keep them?
The situation in the USA is even worse it has land borders with Canada and Mexico how could they check who was coming in? As it is 100s get in illegally via Mexico every day.

However....surely a Dr, who had been working with Ebola cases, should have been quarantined in the US or perhaps before leaving West Africa.
You are correct it would be a mammoth task, but if this outbreak is not contained and there is little sign of this at the moment, then the "mammoth task" may well come into play.
