Unlimited Eu Immigration
Just listened to the Deputy Maire of Calais (Channel 4 news) agreeing with Britain's stance that, essentially, 'enough is enough'. Are we seeing the beginnings of a new 'Entente Cordiale'?

No, it is not genocide (definition: the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.)
These people would not be "exterminated" because of their race. They would be dealt with because they are, as I contended earlier, invaders. Their behaviour is becoming increasingly violent. They are using increasing amounts of force to gain entry to the UK and whilst they are not armed with guns, the effect is the same. I'm not particularly fussed that they roam freely across Europe. If the rest of the EU was stupid enough to abandon their internal borders that's their affair. I'm only concerned with the impact they have on the UK and I stand by my contention that their behaviour is increasingly akin to an invasion. Using force to repel invaders is not genocide.

And to return to the original question there has never really been an "Entente Cordiale" between the UK and France. Throughout history we have either been at war with them or digging them out of the mire. The few occasions where co-operation has taken place (Concorde, the Channel Tunnel) have been commercial conveniences rather than political affilliations. Basically, we don't like the Frogs and they are not particularly fond of "Le Rosbifs".
As far as this particular issue goes it is convenient for the French to blame the UK for the situation that prevails in Calais. Had they maintained robust borders, particularly with Italy, they could have challenged and refused entry to illegal immigrants. They chose to align themselves with the majority of the EU by signing the ridiculous Schengen agreement despite the fact that the very problems they are now suffering were highlighted before that agreement was concluded. The agreement was designed to facilitate the free movement of citizens of member states not to allow unfettered migration of people with no right to be anywhere in Europe. The French (and indeed all the other Schengen members) were adequately warned of the potential pitfalls and now they are paying the price for their stupidity. It does them no favours to blame the UK for their plight, but would expect nothing less.
