Legal fees are getting more and more extortionate. The £212k for this case is surprisingly high, and yet it's apparently barely a tenth of the total legal costs faced by Andrew Mitchell for saying (or not) the word "pleb". If anything, that's even more horrendous from the point of view of complaining about legal costs.

How on earth are they allowed an appeal on those grounds?
Even if it was deemed they had an unfair trial it still does not make any difference everyone knows it was them who committed this horrific crime.
If they lose their appeal their lawyers should forfeit their fees and the money given to Lee's dependants.

CLaimed 'changes of heart' after the event can surely not have any effect on a sentence handed down at the time of trial ? Why is this grounds for an appeal ?
If he has really changed he needs to stress this when time comes for parole to be considered. And in any case, someone who would take to violence so, is surely not safe to be returned to society whist still able bodied anyway. I'm unaware one has the ability to check that their mind is now working ok and safe for society.
The £212k was everything up until now though, as I read it, not for an appeal alone.
