In an earlier post I asked "what is going to be the next one", well here we are it has happened, but what a mass sit-in in a shopping centre has got anything to do with a black man being shot in America completely escapes me.

There were shouts of "I can't breath" well may I suggest that they should keep out of crowded shopping centres for a start ?

I'm glad I went there last week to do my xmas shopping
Export them to New York and see how they get on there.
They seem to be mainly white so most should survive it, just as good kicking in the cell for them.
I heard, on the video clip, the victim shout, "I can't breathe" several times whilst being restrained by about five police officers. Unless the pathology report has stated otherwise I would not say he was throttled or strangled by the police. He was certainly, a rather large individual, who put up quite a struggle when arrested before being restrained by handcuffs and made compliant. He was peddling un- taxed tobacco. Hardly a Federal crime so why make such a fuss and accuse the police of picking on him. He could well of have had a heart attack due to his unnecessary exertions to avoid arrest. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime. May be obesity helped bring about a cardiac arrest. It happens to people, even in the UK, when arrested.
andy- my lol was because it could only be described as strangulation in the tiny minds of the liberatti.
And when your fellow traveller Zheul was bullying me yesterday you joined in. Perhaps you didn't 'catch' his inference.
you want to nip people's right to protest in the bud?
Svejk - thanks for the clarification.

"And when your fellow traveller Zheul was bullying me yesterday you joined in...."

I will leave Zheul to respond to your perception that he was 'bullying' you.

That was certainly not my impression, so therefore I did not, as you put it - 'join in' - I simply agreed with the sentiments he expressed.

The News section is one of the more robust areas of the AB, as you know quite well, and I never had you down as a shrinking violet, but if you feel it is too much for you, there are plenty of other sections for you to choose from, or alternatively, you could abstain from interaction with those whose responses cause you concern.
Could, but I won't. ;-)
No, and I am pretty sure you know that. But I do want to stop them from preventing normal law abiding citizens from going about their business.

As with all things, there is a time and a place. This was simply a selfish stunt by people who can't see further than the end of their nose. With a smattering of potential looters no doubt.

Really Snafu03 and B00 you must not copy me when I inadvertently forgot the 'E' off the end of "Breath" else you also will be accused of being an ignorant Romanian lot who didn't complete secondary school, so don't talk proper.

But scrutinising everything one puts and then going to the trouble of pointing out certain small mistakes is rich coming from one who cannot seem to string two words together so as to make a certain amount of sense.

/// I meant how can you expect gallant police officers to understand them if they dont speak proper ? ///

Incidentally anyone notice our 'Perfect Peter' has missed the Apostrophe from the word DON'T? Shocking absolutely shocking.

Svejk

/// Could, but I won't. ;-) ///

Quite right Svejk, don't allow anyone to bully you off the site.
Most of the participants look like students, which figures. This is the kind of stuff they like to do - 'show solidarity' with something happening in another country that they don't know anything about and has nothing to do with them.
AOG - "Svejk

/// Could, but I won't. ;-) ///

Quite right Svejk, don't allow anyone to bully you off the site."

I entirely agree with your response - but it would need some bullying to take place in order for it to be ignored - my stance is that Svejk was not bullied, but if he feels he was, then his perception is the important one.

///What a mass sit-in in a shopping centre has got anything to do with a black man being shot in America completely escapes me///

It escapes me as well at the moment!

Exactly Andy, he is the one to judge if he has been bullied, not those who agrees with the person who is accused of bullying,

So really in my opinion, there was no reason to post this .

/// but if you feel it is too much for you, there are plenty of other sections for you to choose from, or alternatively, you could abstain from interaction with those whose responses cause you concern. ///

A fair point, well made.

Svejk - if you thought my remarks yesterday were inappropriate, please accept my apologies.

It is never my intention to intimidate or belittle anyone in any way shape or form, so if my observations came across as such, please consider them withdrawn - and we can move forward from here.
Svejk bullied....Oh Lordy!! :-)
ummmm - "Svejk bullied....Oh Lordy!! :-)"

I understand your point, but I am firmly of the belief that people can misinterperet posts - it's the major peril of non-verbal communication, and I would never wish to be seen as someone who bullies anyone - it is reprehensible inexcusable behaviour, and even if perceived by someone we would not expect to feel such, cannot be ignored.

Thanks for your gentlemanly response Andy, I only hope that Svejk will now come forward so as to clear things up also.
Andy's just apologised for not bullying Svejk. I'm not sure how that works.
