In an earlier post I asked "what is going to be the next one", well here we are it has happened, but what a mass sit-in in a shopping centre has got anything to do with a black man being shot in America completely escapes me.

There were shouts of "I can't breath" well may I suggest that they should keep out of crowded shopping centres for a start ?

Let's lighten up. ;)
ludwig - "Andy's just apologised for not bullying Svejk. I'm not sure how that works."

It works like this.

I make a post, which as far as I am concerned is fine.

AN Other AB'er perceives my post as being bullying / inappropriate / nasty / cruel etc.

There are two positions I could take -

1 - tell the poster to get a life / sense of humour / thicker skin, a pair etc.

2 - appreciate that my post has been misunderstood, and, as is often the way with the limits of written communication, it has gained or lost something which I did not intend, which has caused upset.

I will always go for the second option.

To expect everyone to understand everything I post in the manner and form in which I posted it, and to place the blame on them for failing to do so is in my view, high-handed and insensitive.

So although I may not feel as though I have upset someone - and it is never my intention to do so, I am always happy to apologise for my part in any misunderstanding.

It's the way adults should behave towards each other - by all means fight your corner and debate robustly, but upsetting people is not a part of the deal, and I am never keen to do so, and I will always try and sort things out.

Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.
Fair enough, I just think if you don't think you've done anything wrong, then you shouldn't be apologising.
That's fabulous Svejk - made me laugh out loud!

divebuddy - "A-H, Don't you ever think that sometimes it's best not to say the same thing yet again ."

It depends.

If a subject comes up that I have commented on previously, I will comment again - I don't assume that everyone reads and memorises everything I post ... but it would be nice!!

There are plenty of things that one doesn't personally find offensive, but then would not openly say, because other's would find them very offensive.

True. I'm not sure how that's relevant though.
Does anyone else ever feel like telling andy to 'shut the **** up' !!! Cue another four or five para. response to which I will not respond !!!

If you don't like it - don't read it!
Andy....I just wouldn't bother copying and pasting what other have said. Just aim your responses @them. Let other people scroll back and see what you're answering.

ummmm - "Andy....I just wouldn't bother copying and pasting what other have said. Just aim your responses @them. Let other people scroll back and see what you're answering."

As you know, I always cut and paste the post to which I am responding - mainly because cross-posting can occur, in which case the post to which I respond is no longer the one before, and can cause confusion.

So, have we worked out yet
///What a mass sit-in in a shopping centre has got to do with a black man being shot in America///
AOG?
Okay..maybe address all the points in one answer but just in separate paragraphs.

I'm not being critical but sometimes it's hard to read.

May I suggest doing something similar to what I do and that is to enclose the copy and post passages in something more visual than just Quotation Marks.

I of course use /// unless I also have to include a copy and paste passage from a report then I also use *** so as not to confuse the two.

Wow I had almost forgot what it was really about also, perhaps it was the mistake between being shot or dying from a medical condition that threw them.

///between being shot or dying from a medical condition///

Eric Garner, the subject of your link, was not shot at all!
As someone said in another thread..'He was lucky he wasn't shot'.
Phew, yeah. That was a close call.

That is what I said "the mistake".
