seems like loads of these top acheiving schoolsa re fatih based (?compared to how many faith based schools there are?)

is this the way we should be going for education?

Sherrard you could be right, my daughter went to C of E school, mainly because it was a new school in our cachement area, not churchy at all, she did ok there. I can only recall the Catholic School in the area where I lived, it was run by nuns who were very strict, although my g/f at the time wasn't particularly brainy, and her brother became a priest.....
I did a teaching practice in a catholic school - there weren't any nuns but the staff were really strict and it was known that misbehaving in any way would not be tolerated, strictest school I have ever been in (and a bit scary).
