Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.

Doctor just seen me and said "We are going to make you an outpatients appointment with Sheffield". So when my infection has cleared up, I'm out the door once again. How am I supposed to keep my sickness under control? Non of the oral meds work. Great, so I will either be throwing up through out the back end of Christmas and New Year.

Just great.
Just wonderful.

They've just come to remove my cannula so I've told them where to go. They are going to have to send a district nurse around to my house every 6 hours to give me antibiotics if they release me. Not tot to mention I can't deal with the sickness.

11 days of hell and for what? To be made an appointment at another hospital. To pick up an infection that is hurting like hell. What a waste.
Oh Diz, I'm so sorry to hear of your continuing problems. I wish the medical profession could just figure it all out once and for all.
i doubt you will be sent home with i/v antibiotics.so no need for a district nurse 6 hourly.
You will not be allowed home with a Venflon in and will not be administered IV antibiotics at home
Hiya....

I really hope you get things sorted. You should set your mum on them xxx
Question Author
anneasquith: sorry to break it to you but they have processed the discharge. I'm packed and ready to be thrown out. They've removed my cannula and took my medication to pharmacy SO, they are discharging me. Maybe they won't bother with the antibiotic's at all. I've had enough.

You might not hear from me for a few days. Ummmm I'll ring you later. Text me so that I've definatly got tour number.
Okay. I'll put my phone on charge. You know I'm bad for not charging it.

Are they even attempting to address the other issues?

My mum will be set on them. Everyone is at work so I'm catching two busses home. I've smashed up all my origami in a fit of emotional rage.

Just an outpatients appointment for the cyst which hasn't even been made yet. As far as the antiemetic is concerned there isn't a great deal they can do with that until they get rid of the cyst. I've gone past crying, I'm now raging.
dizmo, for fear of being unpopular,, is it possible you are, in the medical staff opinion ready to be discharged home, surely you should be delighted at being discharged home in time to spend xmas with your family and dogs ?
Question Author
Anneasquith: if I could keep the sickness under control I'd not care so much but they are well aware that every antiemetic they have tried/use does NOT work orally. I know IV Cyclizine and table Cyclizine are the same drug but orally it does not stop the physical sickness. They know this, they have watched me vomit my guts up. The sickness is due to the pain of the cyst. I was lead to believe the cyst would be dealt with here not as an outpatient which probably won't be till January.

Think how upsetting it's going to be for my family watching me starve myself to avoid spewing up. It's destroying my mum having my step dad in hospital at least if she knows I'm here I'm safe. She's going to be worrying herself sick, me being at home on my own.
it is possible you may be able to tolerate food now with oral anti-emetics ? at least give it a try.
Question Author
I did the day before yesterday. They had to give me Haloperidol IV immediately after. The Cyclizine didn't work. That was while on the new painkiller. The only way of trying to get rid of it is to get rid of the pain altogether - which means increasing the pain meds significantly. I'll be a vegetable all day. Either way something has to happen because I'm being thrown out.
dizmo. you are not been '' thrown out'' you are being discharged with medication and an out patient appointment will be arranged.
I've never really *spoken* to you on here Diz,and I can't offer any medical advice. But I've read with some alarm and horror your recent experiences in hospital. All I can offer is a heartfelt hope that this is dealt with as soon as possible, and that you at least get some relief from the pain. Anything to make your day to day problems a bit less.
Wishing you strength and a return of good health. x

Thanks Pastafreak and everyone else. I have to wait for my meds and to speak to the pain specialist before I go. I can't even stay in my room, I've got to sit in a discharge lounge all morning and afternoon.
I think Diz has been treated really badly :-(

I just overheard them saying I had a review with Dr Tosh (mental health psychiatrist). So I rang the clinic and there is no appointment. So I said, nice and loudly, 'can you get his secretary to call me back so I can make an appointment ASAP because if I leave it to the hospital to sort out I won't be seen for months'. A few seconds after I heard a member of staff say to the other; "That man has really upset me by saying that on the phone". Well guess what? Good.

Yeah I'm going to be petty and 'orrible.
oh dear !!!!
Question Author
Still stuck at the hospital in limbo. They couldn't even be bothered to prescribe my afternoon meds even though I haven't gone yet. I've asked for them and they haven't got 2 of them (because mine are at pharmacy) so just gave me what they had.

Pointless really as I've just barfed them up down the bog. My Cyclizine wasn't prescribed so I'm now vomiting anything I swallow.

Every Christmas I always put a stone in weight on due to over eating and boozing. Neither is going to happen this year - at least I can drop down the to my ideal weight - every cloud eh?
