Annie was previously a white girl with ginger hair, now a black actress is portraying her nothing wrong with that one may say, but then it is when this kind of thing kicks off.
What will be the fall out if we ever get a black James Bond, which has been suggested?

/// AOG - Andy is spot on. I really don't understand why liking a black actor makes me a bit racist. Can you please explain? ///
Nestling up again, always safety in numbers it seems.
Well look at it like this, if I was to had said the same has you did, only in reverse, don't you think I would have got the same response from others?

/// ummmm may choose not to watch Bond films because she doesn't like any of the actors used, up to and including Mr Craig. ///
/// She may like Mr Elba as an actor, and admire his work, and tune in to see what sort of Bond he makes. ///
/// The issue of his skin colour, or that of the other actors is not in sight in her view - only, it seems, in yours. ///
Oh so you have set yourself up to speak on ummmm's behalf have you Andy, but how on earth do you know what is in her mind?"
I have no idea what is in ummm's mind - which is why I used the word 'may' twice in pondering her potential position.
I have not 'set myself up' for anything - I simply put forward a potential point of view. I - and you - am perfectly well aware of ummmm's ability to express her own views perfectly well, she doesn't need me to speak for her - which I wasn't merely putting forward an argument, which is what debate is about.
Or even mine it would seem.
Best to stick to things that you definitely know of.

That would make my input seriously limited - and were you to practise what you preach - it would make yours equally dull and pointless.
Debate is never just about facts known to the debaters, it is about ideas, thoughts, potential thoughts, ideas, what-ifs and so on - that is the platform we all use, yourself included, so I will decline your offer to 'stick to things I definitely know of ...' - and I am sure you will decline to take up that debating stance as well.

As previously advised, ummmm is in need of no-one to 'nestle up to', as you rather oddly put it, she is quite capable of standing alone and arguing her view.
The fact is, she simply agreed that the point I offered was correct.
Now if you see that as some sort of mutual admiration society between us, then that thought is yours alone - it is certainly not done by her to massage my ego, nor is it done by me because I admire her baby blue eyes.
You have posters who agree with you - we all do - but agreement is not 'nestling up' - it is simply agreeing, nothing more or less.
I prefer to lose the mental image of my agreeing with you - which I do from time to time, as 'nestling up' - that doesn't work for me!

youngmafbog - "Well actually if you turn it round and said
"I won't watch it if Elba Idris plays it"
I wonder what the respose from some ABers would have been."
But that applies to any and every point made on every post in every section.
You can 'turn things around', but that's usually a pointless cul-de-sac, because it's not what the original poster said - or meant.
I detest Amanda Hart, so I won't watch anything she is in on TV.
I could 'turn it round' and say, what if her part was played by Naomi Harris, would I watch it then?
Maybe, but not because Naomi Harris is a black actress, that is not the issue, so the whole argument falls apart right there.
ummmm has pointed out that she hasn't enjoyed any Bond actors to date, but would watch if Mr Elba took the role.
That would suggest that she likes Mr Elba as an actor, not because he is a black actor, or because she prefers a black actor to a white one - that is an unfounded inference put on her by another poster, and she has rightly shot it down for the nonsense it is.
