Grandma's Hug - Shocking Story

Of course we don't know the whole story but it all seems rather harsh to me - I think Derbyshire Social Services have a lot to answer for in all this. She obviously loves her granddaughter.

The woman has obviously broken the court order many times before this .
The judge was forced to impose a 3 month prison sentence for each break (according to the 2nd link posted) as she just ignored the many warnings.
That is why she was immediately jailed, the police had no other option than immediate custody. No need for access to a lawyer either as there was no argument possible about custody so that is another nail in the coffin for the Wail story.
She IS a criminal with multi arrests and jail terms she MUST have known that she would not be allowed to keep pills while in jail, as said, only medication prescribed by the police doctor is allowed. That just about blows the Wail's story out of the water completely.

By the way the courts overwhelming principle is to do whatever is in '' The best interests of the child''
All else is secondary to that. So the court MUST hold the view that no physical contact with the child by the grandmother is in the child's best interests.
We can not know what the history is but possibly the the question of potential harm to the child is what is at the core of this story.

After meeting her grandmother, the young woman's behaviour deteriorated, she assaulted staff and self-harmed.
She does sound as if she needs protection.

Not much sympathy for this woman from our usually caring ABers. I know as much as the rest of you but isn't it just possible that this family are caught up in a Kafkaesque nightmare of 'secret' courts, possibly, being misused by an errant council. Wouldn't be the first Social Services Department and/or council to misuse legislation to cover for their own shortcomings.
I've read that link and it seems very sad. The grand-daughter, aged 17 who is described as having 'learning difficulties' seemed to be very pleased to see her grandmother, who had given her a DVD of her life growing up. Evidence suggests the girl was very happy to see her grandmother which does not to me indicate a fear or anxiety in meeting her. A very sad case
Retro, read this link that was previously posted yesterday

It says if you read through, that the visit by the grandmother had a profound detrimental effect on the child who started self harming.
