It is one MPs opinion. The Mail describes him as a prominant MP, but sadly, I have never heard of him. Though I do think there is some truth in the claim. The Westminster Elite is out of touch with working people. But the problem is in all the Parties, not just Labour.

It is probably worth pointing out that not all Northerners are Labour voter. A vast area of Northern England returned a Conservative MP in 2010.
