I am surprised that this thread just seems to focus on Germany. The fuse has been fizzing in towns and cities in most European countries.Either the governments listen to the protests against Islamification and quench the fuse or they put their fingers in their ears, stick their heads up their arris rails and wait for the explosion. It is a fact that Christian...

I would like to clarify that I ,as an infidel of ALL religions, do not fly the flag for Islam. I give due reverence to those who have a faith and I respect their worship to their God EXCEPT for Islam. For a religion that has been going for thousands of years they still cannot interpret what their holy man requires of them . To KILL or be KIND. Until the holy men of Finsbury Park mosque et al can show me where we stand I will treat that religion and it's adherents with extreme caution.

yes retro, you cannot stop islamification in the sense that is implied but you can disable the tendency to want to absorb/kill/convert. Personally I'd do it with all religions.
But one of Pegida's aim is to criticise the German political class over its policies on immigration.

It's in the story itself!

I only mentioned it because that's one of the things that they are protesting about.

Thanks for the BA. I am amazed. I was actually expecting howls of outrage and being called every ......ist by the ***.

I have to say, when you start referring to handwringing supporters of the RoP, it becomes really easy for reasoned debate to slide into childish name-calling.

Not saying you shouldn't express yourself as you wish...just an observation after many years here on AB...

NP, retro. What worries me is that there are too many who don't think there is a problem and tend to condem those like these protesters and in the end that could lead to some form of vigilante "ethnic cleansing" and burning mosques etc by the public that feel abandoned my the leaders of the EU. Just like Chamberlain in 1939 many are ignoring the problem and letting it get worse until finally even the *** think there is a problem by when it will be a much bigger issue than it would be if nipped in the bud. We never seem to learn from history.
// Pegida’s main demonstration in the eastern city of Dresden, a region that has few immigrants or Muslims, attracted 18,000, //

Why would the area with least muslims attract one of the biggest rallies against islam?

Perhaps the EDL should hold their demonstrations in Tunbridge Wells instead of Leicester Oldham.
"Why would the area with least muslims attract one of the biggest rallies against islam? "

Maybe they are trying to save Dresden from the extreme hard-right religious fascist but I'm sure if you do a bit of searching you will find the answer.

maybe they did that when you weren't looking?

Helmut Schmidt seems to have nailed it

// Pegida "appeals to hollow prejudices, xenophobia and intolerance," wrote former The Chancellor //

Simply vote BNP at the next General Election.

If they win a majority your problems are sorted!

Of course, it might make things a bit tricky for my mum, who doubt would be repatriated - but to be honest, she got me a rubbish Christmas present, so she deserves all she gets.
Funny how there are never any mass demonstrations in the street protesting against so called Islamic State. Where are all the leftie hand wringers?

I am intrigued. How will that stop Islam?

Most extreme Islamist s are extreme right anyway, they wold probably get on well with the BNP !

If Helmut Schmidt said that then it reinforces what TTT stated at 1230.
If the government ignores the concerns of of it's people by their demonstrating then it will escalate out of control of the government and their could well be vigilantism and mosque burning. Out of small acorns tall oak trees grow! Our history tells us that it only takes a small handful of people to turn a country to become a National Socialist Party and we all know what happened then. If the government stick their head in the sand I expect the numbers of protesters at these marches will rise.
I see I am not allowed to question why I was called a name-caller.

Very democratic.
did you use words ruder than bottom, YMB?
// If Helmut Schmidt said that then it reinforces what TTT stated at 1230.
If the government ignores the concerns of it's people //

Cologne has a population of over 1 million people, and Pegida attracted 250 people to their rally there. They do not represent the 'people' except a tiny minority of xenophobes.
//Why would the area with least muslims attract one of the biggest rallies against islam? //

Possibly because the people of Dresden have seen what's happened in other areas and don't want their city to go down a similar route.
Gromit, they're not xenophobes and neither are they racist. They are demonstrating against one section of society that is having an inordinate effect on their own.
