Henrietta, the Koran commands Muslims to kill enemies of Islam. People who ridicule the prophet are perceived to be enemies of Islam.

Incidentally, Hitler wasn’t Muslim so the rule doesn’t apply to him.
Zacs, yes, I knew that. Just agreeing with you really.
Henrietta. I find it hard to follow your 'logic' so I'll refrain from replying save to say, please read my post again.
The magazine has made a point of satirising islam and offending muslims. They reprinted the Danish cartoons, they printed an issue with several cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed naked, and they announced that the Prophet would be guest editor for an issue.

There previous premises were attacked and burnt to the ground.

All within the freedom of the press and free speech, but probably foolhardy when you are antagonising extremist nutters.

Henrietta I was not offended by your remarks as hopefully non of my (french) family is involved. Your following posts indicated that you would be likely to bow down to terrorists demands should the occasion arise (if I did something that offended a terrorist and he kept terrorising me I would stop) that actually worries me more. If we all felt like that it would not be very long before we were praying to Allah!
Gromit, yes, you can't say they weren't aware of the potential consequences of their provocative publications. They must have been very brave to continue, don't you think?
Naomi jews and muslims have been living side by side in many countries as good friends and neighbors for centries. Are you saying they've been going against islam by doing so?

Gromit so they were deliberately proving a reaction? Not that they deserved this but I certainly would have left working there once they started doing this.
It's on now on itv!
Terrifying "the genie has been let out of the bottle".
Thank goodness the majority of people and our leaders don't think like you Henrietta.
Dreadful news.....Just shows how powerful terrorism can be, and why it is practised so widely, all over the world.

I wonder if Anjem Choudary will refuse to condemn this, as he has other terror outrages ?
Gromit, without taking away from the horror of the event I tend to agree with you. I think publicly mocking a religion that has fundamental terrorism within its organisation should be avoided. If they had shown the Pope naked in bed with Mother Theresa there would have been an outcry but I doubt this sort of violence.
If the ways of the Western world cause offence to the Muslims and they feel they have to perpertrate their evil outrages here then I would suggest when they face East to offer their prayers to the founder of the ROP they just keep walking back EAST. Why come to the West in the first place unless their agenda is............?
Can't believe this. ABers already suggesting it was the victims fault. Must be sick in the head.
Who suggested that?
can't you read?
Henrietta, //Naomi jews and muslims have been living side by side in many countries as good friends and neighbors for centries. Are you saying they've been going against islam by doing so? //

People like the perpetrators of this atrocity would probably say so. The Koran does advise its adherents not to befriend non-Muslims.
It appears that this outrage and crime happens only whenever the prophet is taken the *** out of. Can they not sell papers/magazine
s
without doing this and endangering lives? Of course they can! The purposely waltzed with danger and contoversy to sell magazines/paper
s
not that this was called for but I wouldn't do it it for love nor money especially against a heavily armed global group who commit behaeadings, suicide bombings and fly planes into buildings. That's sheer dancing with danger in my book.
Every single western nation will rue the day they allowed muslim immigration in the numbers that they have, some already are.

lets hope the french police know how to shoot straight when they find these filth...
// Gromit... They must have been very brave to continue, don't you think? //

Once their offices were burned down, it was clear they had entered into a war with dangerous people. They were not deterred from targetting the religion and some of its extremist followers. So yes, they were brave and stuck to their belief that anyone or anything can be laughed at.

But ti does appear that that bravery has resulted in several members of staff and innocent police officers losing their lives.
