Much is said (mainly negative) on this site regarding The Daily Mail with accusations of telling lies, being racist, anti Islamic, and of possessing and publishing a particular right-wing agenda, if all these are so then why do they support and campaign certain issues such as the Stephen Lawrence case and now this?

I really do not get this. All newspapers, by definition, have a political agenda, even though they may claim to be impartial. 40 odd years ago it was the Daily Express and the now defunct Daily Sketch which were denounced as Tory rags. Similarly, the Daily Mirror has slavishly licked the backside of the Labour Party since its foundation. You know what you're buying, and what you're going to get.
Indeed, but can you not see the disproportionately massive way the DM does it?
You only have to look at the headlines, most of them read like the manifesto of the EDL.
I also do not buy newspapers. I have, in the past, aired my doubts over AOG's insistence of linking to a *preponderance* of DM articles, which he rapidly countered with a few Grauniad stories.

I asserted that he was posting links to DM as 'click-bait'. By merely visiting the article page we ABers generate page hits and DM can charge their advertisers a few pennies per 'page impression'.

AOG thereby subtly gets us to pay to read a paper we wouldn't choose to buy.
He denied being an employee of theirs, though. As SP says, it's just odd.

Meanwhile, "If thy Daily Mail offend thee…"

;-)

You only have to look at the headlines, most of them read like the manifesto of the EDL.

Now that is a bit OTT, AP, and you know it.
I occasionally buy the Independent, mainly for the crossword but I think ALL newspapers to a greater or lesser degree are biased and feed off sensationalism, including the Guardian (sorry AOG) and I'm not into supporting that.
Interesting assertion re AOG's multiple DM links, I've noticed that he occasionally throws in quotes from other papers, presumably to (grudgingly?) "prove" that he's not totally biased towards the DM.
My feeling is that AB has quite a large DM readership, some are open about it and (I suspect) others are in the closet. I wouldn't be surprised if AOG knows this and aims a lot of his postings at those people.

Mere harmless sensationalism.. ☺
"But, if it were not for the DM and AOG, you'd have nothing to get vexed about".
Oh you big silly! I don't WANT to be "vexed"!
Yeah right, so 'harmless' that Britain's knuckle-draggers lap it up and then we end up with an infestation of things like the EDL UKIP and the BNP.
One of our ex-Prime Ministers (Robert Cecil, Lord Salisbury, a Tory!) described the Daily Mail as a newspaper "written by office boys for office boys."
There is not a shred of evidence that it has ever risen higher than that level in terms of the probable intelligence of either its staff or its readership!
Insulting office boys now, QM. Lol. You left-whingers just can't help yourselves, can you. Despite all the evidence to the contrary, you cling to the notion that anyone who doesn't agree with your school-boy politics is stupid.

/// why do you seek to defend it so much? ///

Simply because it is often criticised for telling lies over sensationalism etc etc. when the real reason is because it has happened to report on a subject that some on AB would rather it not be reported on.

And this also goes hand in hand why the majority of my threads get so much abusive attention, simply because I tell it how it is, non of this PC rubbish, or being frightened of being called racist, bigot, homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, all tools used in an attempt to curb free speech, as some would like the Daily Mail removed from the news stands..

Play another record that one is getting worn a little thin, we will soon begin to hear the other side.

/// The Daily Mail has a proven track record of right-wing bias ///

And I suppose the Guardian hasn't a proven left-wing track record then?

At least the Daily Mail will often criticise the Tories, more than can be said for the Guardian criticism Labour.

The Mail will also often support Women's issues, Gay issues and black issues.

/// One of the two brothers who founded it was friends with Hitler and Mussolini. ///

If you need to harken back to history, they wasn't the only ones that were friends of these two prior to WW2.

/// THIS, is one of the reasons I (jokingly) refer to some of AB's posters as "fascists". ///

I notice that you have now bracketed in the word 'jokingly' to that abusive word that have used so often in the past, so as to try and silence those that disagree with you, I don't know whether or not you have been chastised by the ED for using it, but you certainly need to be.

Then the simply answer is, "don't be".

Now isn't that better?
"Play another record that one is getting worn a little thin, we will soon begin to hear the other side"
...a bit like you going on and on virtually every day with your quotes of intolerance from the DM.

"And I suppose the Guardian hasn't a proven left-wing track record then?"
Haven't you noticed the umpteen times I've said I DON'T READ THE GUARDIAN ...hello, anyone at home? The light's are on etc. YES the Guardian DOES have a proven track record of left wing bias, I never said it didn't, that is why I don't buy it.

"At least the Daily Mail will often criticise the Tories" ...indeed, for not being far enough to the right!

I have always maintained that my use of the word 'fascist' in this context, is meant to be tongue in cheek. You really don't pay attention do you.

(re "vexed") "Then the simply answer is, "don't be" LOL - coming from *you* of all people!

The "simply" answer is you need to keep some sort of grip on past conversations before you kick off.

Dunno about all that - just know they get an awful lot of facts wrong.
just for instance sayingsquirrels hibernate [which they don't] -and this by a so called science professional. But when the error is pointed out they don't bother to put in a correction.

You do come across as such a nasty person, so much so that I don't think I want to debate with you any further, after all this is only a leisure site and although we may hold different views on matters (that is the whole purpose) one does not have to be so rude and aggressive, as you so constantly are.
