We can't win whatever, cut the amount we pay in aid, so we then have to spend an extra £100m to the £230m bill we already pay for tackling the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone.

When I was a kid, for years I thought Sierra Leone was a person.

Not as embarrassing as this though...I remember a time back in the seventies when the six o'clock new reported on a guerrilla war kin (I think) Angola.

It was a huge story that kept me, a seven year old, watching the news for weeks, because I genuinely thought it was a 'gorilla war'.

Absolutely true.

My mum laughed for about half an hour when one night I turned to her (after the new had concluded) and asked whether we would see the gorillas fighting like on Planet of the Apes.

but I think you read it as"

"Sierra Leone gets more aid from the UK than any other country"

...which is not quite the same.

But we donate more to other countries.
