Both officers firing, and one officer is Black as I understand from the tv news
The deceased has previous for shooting troopers but it appears did not have a weapon.

Too many people are dying as a result of overzealous use of deadly force.
In the meantime, if ever I am in the US and driving and get pulled over, I will try to remember DTC's advice.

A registration check would of been done by the troopers when stopping the car. The troopers knew who the occupants were when they approached the car and called them by name. If you were a visitor to the USA in a hire car, say, then the police might have approached the scenario differently but still shouting clear instructions to the driver as what is required of them before they exit the vehicle.

DTC is correct. I had contact with the troopers in New Jersey and believe me I made very sure I kept hands in view and didnt move until asked. Having done that the Cop (Black) was very polite and helpful.
The problem is, people in this country seem to assume every other country is the same. They are not, and the US is certainly no where near the worst.

As a lighter moment, I had a hilarious one.
Missed a car parked at an odd angle on a residential dual carriageway - doing 42 in what I thought was 45 and was 30mph. Cop pulls out and flashes me, turned left and into a funeral home.
Went through the procedure as described, the ex telling me, 'don't say anything crass.'
"Licence and insurance, Sir?"
"You can have your choice of Brit, Dutch, or even Hong Kong, Officer."
You could see his reaction, 'Christ I have one of these' and he would have known that the car was insured as it was an Avis.
I handed over my Brit and he half turned away and then bursts out laughing.
He turns back and says, "You are never going to believe this." He points to his lapel with all the badges and there is his name, 'Colin J Sameasmine'
"Guess I can't book family. You can get out of the car now."
We proceeded to have a discussion on the history of the family name, my wife incredulous.

Having just seen the footage it doesn't really give any clues or indications. The guy on the left(from the Police camera view) obviously has both hands in plain view, whereas the guy on the right does not.
Seems to me that he was failing to comply with all requests, however heated, as I did not se either of his hands portruding through the window in a similar fashion to the guy on the left.
There's certainly slightly less furore over this one as it's black on black and no doubt the officer making heated the heated requests will be pilloried by his own community, such is the present nature of the beast in the US.

"Always play the race card when in trouble. "
and it nearly always works
if he had as on a previous occasion shot at a trooper, but in this instance killed him...what would the andy hughes et al of this world be saying then ?
Im assuming with the troopers its once bitten twice shy, or dont give the phu(ker a second chance if you want to finish your shift....

This quite clearly a murder. I can't see how the Police can wriggle out of this one, as its all on video. If the murdered man had both hands hanging out of the car window, how on earth can he have been a danger to the two cops ?
When are these stupid white American Policemen going to realise that when you are in a hole, its best to stop digging.
An own goal if ever I saw one !

I wouldn't want to have you as foreman of a jury or anywhere near. How can you say"the evidence is clear. It is a case of murder" from the comfort of your armchair?
The video evidence is far from clear. Suppose you have been in the same position as these troopers have you mikey. What I would like to know is if either officers had shot and killed a suspect in the line of duty before because we DO know the deceased did and will never do it again.
